UFOS, WTF?

I´m very interested in UFOs. I think they are one of the most misunderstood phenomena on Earth. First, let me make this clear, I don´t think that UFOs have anything to do with aliens from outer space. Too long the ET-hypothesis has ruled the UFO discussion, it´s time to let it go.

There is a real UFO phenomenon (or phenomena) that has an objective existence regardless of the observer but UFO experience is still subjective and maybe hallucinatory and doesn´t involve any space aliens. Or angels, elves, monsters or leprechauns. (Think similarities between modern alien abductions and abductions by faerie folk in folklore.)

ETs can´t be completely dismissed, of course. (Although, can elves be?) But I think they´re very improbable explanation for the UFO phenomenon. Even if only a small percentage of all ufo experiences are “real” alien encounters it would mean that there has been hundreds or even thousands of different alien species that have visited our little planet and how credible that is?

The big problem with (almost) any theory of UFOs is that they can´t be tested scientifically. That´s not surprising as we can´t make UFO experiences happen in a laboratory. And that´s, I think, is the reason why most of the scientists dismiss UFOs as a subject of research – and not because there´s a conspiracy to hide the facts of alien life or anything. We should find ways to examine UFO experiences scientifically. Maybe finding a place where UFOs are seen regularily and equip it with cameras, geiger counters and everything?

Yes, today we have our phones with cameras all the time with us but still there´s no convincing video material of UFOs or aliens. I think that tells us something. The aliens come from inner not from outer space.
